Frequently asked questions
Is there an exam?
No. The Certified Scrum Product Owner certification is awarded on completing the course. There is no test to sit, before or after.
Attend the full class and take part, and Scrum Alliance issues your certification and your 2-year membership. Nothing is left hanging over you afterwards.
What will I actually learn?
You take one product through a full design lifecycle: strategy and vision, who you are building for and what job they are hiring the product to do, a Value Proposition Canvas, product goals and epics, story mapping, a roadmap and release strategy, user stories, and five different ways to prioritise them.
It is built as a project rather than a syllabus. Small teams take one shared product through every step together, so you leave having practised the work, not just seen it defined.
What do I leave with?
The plan your team builds across the class, and the exercise templates behind every step, so you can run the same sequence again on your own products afterwards.
Plus the $175 AI toolkit (a prompt vault, a prompting guide and a data safety card), which is included with every registration.
Do I need prior experience, or any pre-requisites?
No, and no. We start from the basics, so Scrum, Agile and product work can all be brand new to you. Most classes have a mix of experience levels, which is part of what makes them work.
After you sign up we'll send a couple of short pre-class readings. They're not long, and they make the class go a lot further.
Do I need to be a Product Owner already?
No. Plenty of people take this before the role, or while sharing it with something else: business analysts, project managers, founders, ScrumMasters covering a vacant PO seat.
If you are already doing the job, the project is still where the value is. You work through it in a small team on a shared product, which is closer to how the real decisions get made than working alone would be.
Who is this class for?
Anyone responsible for what a team builds and in what order. Classes usually mix product owners, product managers, business analysts, project managers, founders, ScrumMasters and people moving into product from somewhere else.
No prior experience is needed, and none is assumed. The mix of backgrounds is part of what makes a live group training work.
What credentials do I earn?
The Certified Scrum Product Owner certification on completing the class, plus a 2-year Scrum Alliance membership.
You also earn 16 PMI PDUs and 16 Scrum Alliance SEUs. An email after class explains how to claim each one.
Can I reschedule or cancel?
Yes to both, and there are no fees either way. Transfer to a different date whenever you need to, or cancel before class starts for a full refund.
What do I need to join?
A solid internet connection, a computer, a microphone (built-in is fine) and a webcam. Zoom runs in any modern browser, though the app works better. If your computer has no webcam, join the video on your phone and use the computer for the collaboration tools.
Is it really live, or a recording?
Live, on Zoom, with Giora in the room the whole time. Nothing is pre-recorded and there is no self-paced module to grind through.
You will spend a good part of each day in breakout rooms working in small groups. That is the reason the class is capped at 15: everyone has to be able to take part.
